I found myself in Zagorsk, a holy place in Russia that epitomised this changeover of values in the Soviet federation. I was asked by the Beeb to be their video consultant (early days) but then we both realised they had very little video equipment outside of simple playback machines – quadruplex etc. So I gravitated into a role of making short projects about interesting buildings with interesting people.
