Roving Reporters

Budding writers ... Admissions & Student Recruitment at the University of Dundee are looking for "Roving Reporters" on campus, amongst our current students.

We need you to tell us:

• what's happening on campus
• what you are learning about this semester, and how
• what you did in the vacation (work experience, travelling etc)
• what assignments you are doing, especially if they are NOT the usual essays, exams etc
• what sports activities you are involved in
• what's going on in your student life.

We will use these in a range of ways, from quotes on our website to profiles in newsletters and adverts. Depending on your writing style & preference we may use you to write a blog or "semester in the life of ...." piece.

What's in it for you?

1. We will credit all writing, wherever possible
2. You will accumulate a portfolio of writing for future employers
3. We will be happy to provide a reference for you
4. You have the satisfaction of being able to tell future students what it's really like at Dundee

How much work does this entail?

That's up to you - you can write a one-off piece, such as Anwar did, or several weekly pieces, like Henrietta. These & others are listed on our Student & Graduate Profiles page.

What we would like is interesting and different things going on which you think future students would like to know about. We will then use suitable pieces of writing for prospective students, editted as appropriate.

Your participation would be purely voluntary, and you would be able to stop contributing at any time.

How do I apply?

If you are interested, please email asrs-webadmin@dundee.ac.uk with the following information (use the words "Roving Reporter" in the subject line). You must be a current University of Dundee student.

• Name
• Matriculation number
• Details of the course you are taking
• Mobile phone number
• Extra-curricular activities you are involved in at University - sports/hobbies/voluntary work etc
• A piece of writing (eg word attachment) of around 500 words describing something that happened last semester or over the holidays.

We will record your personal details for the purposes of the Roving Reporter scheme and Recruitment Activities.
